"I'm glad there were no gunshots"
All across America you might be walking across one of the prettiest neighbourhouds you could ever think of, then make 1 turn and end up in a nastiest 7-eleven parking spot. And even though Oakland does not solely consist of parking and public transport here exists and is usable in the metaphor above it feels like the parking spot. It's an absolute shame, because I could feel the artsy roots of the city and some signs of the vibrant social life, but looks like it's slowly deminishing and turning into doom looped downtown which media like to force.
Given all that we actually had a good time there: appartment on the basement floor of the house was small, but gorgeous; I could use the bus to get to co-working, people one the streets seemed chill and most of the citizens are saying "thank you!" when exiting the bus. There were a couple of hiccups like a bunch of homeless people shouting me out right as I exited office building or a guy on fent sitting on the street vibing.
